L'histoire
Hornblower is delegated to deal with a brig of mutineers near the French coasts. A prisoner named Lebrun is fortunately, or unfortunately, assistant to the Maire of Le Havre. Hornblower think that it is a wonderful occasion to seizure the city.
Hornblower est appelé par son état major à traiter avec un brick de mutins se tenant non loin des côtes françaises. Un prisonnier nommé Lebrun se trouve heureusement ou malheureusement être le bras droit du Maire du Havre. Hornblower y voit une occasion de mettre main basse sur la ville.
Mon avis
It's a fantastic adventure book but i don't think this is one of the better Forester's books. Unfortunately for me it's not as exotic as the others because the story take place in France... But I must admit that was really funny. I prefer the courageous commodore Hornblower in navy adventures, once he became Governor of Le Havre the story became extremely boring. And in my advice, it was a little bit more annoying than usual when Horatio is in the Count Castel with Marie, i prefer the conflict with his wife Barbara when she invades the world of his husband.
Comme à son habitude Forester nous offre un superbe roman d'aventure et cette fois ci loin d'être exotique car il se déroule en France... Mais il revisite de façon charmante la vision qu'ont les Anglais de Napoléon. Je dois avouer avoir beaucoup ri. Néanmoins, je n'ai pas pris autant de plaisir que dans les autres titres des aventures d'Hornblower, préférant le courageux capitaine lors de ses manoeuvres maritimes, de façon générale le roman devient ennuyeux après qu'Horatio soit nommé gouverneur du Havre. Le passage " de la vie de chateau" chez le Comte et sa fille Marie m'a semblé assez long, mais j'imagine qu'une touche de romantisme n'était pas pour déplaire à la parution de ce roman en 1946.
